彼はエビ漁で生計を立てる漁師だが、毎年漁獲量の少なさに悩まされている。去年FLAGが獲ったエビは、なんと僅か2尾。1年間で小ぶりな甘エビを2尾のみである。悩まされているとかいうレベルちゃうやろ、と思われるかもしれないが、これにはやむを得ない事情がある。FLAGは極度の寒がりなので、あんまり外に出たくないのだ。グリーンランドはその名から、緑の多い温暖な土地だと勘違いされがちだが、実際はまるで逆。夏寒くて冬超寒い、北極にほど近い氷に覆われた島である。もう、できることなら一歩も外に出たくない。なので、FLAGの漁は夏のなるべく暖かい日に港に出掛け、他の漁師が市場に運び出すときに網からこぼれたエビを拾うスタイルだ。去年はあんまりこぼしてくれなかったから、2尾という残念な結果に終わった。それもう漁ちゃうやろ、と言いたい気持ちもわかる。何が「拾うスタイルだ」やねん、と。まあでも根は良い子なんでね、どうかこらえて。こらえてつかぁさい。
